The Key of Solomon the King, Mathers (1889), Figure 49. Public domain.

What is written on it

A gate or door, with IHVH in the centre, the Names IHV, IHVH, AL and IHH, and the angels Schioel, Vaol, Yashiel and Vehiel.

The versicle

“He hath broken the Gates of brass, and smitten the bars of iron in sunder.”

Psalm 107:16

How it is made

  • Engrave it in silver on a Monday, in an hour of the Moon. Made in the planet's metal, it needs no particular colour.
  • Or draw it on virgin paper or parchment, exorcised first, in silver, the colour of the Moon.
  • The material must be new and never used for anything else. Metal is first purified by fire.
  • The size is up to you, as long as it is made by the rules. Burn the incense while you work, and be pure in body and mind.
