Key of Solomon · Figure 45

The Second Pentacle of Mercury

Mercury ☿︎ · Wednesday · Mixed metal · Mixed colours

What it is for

Its spirits grant things that go against the order of nature.

Its virtue

The Spirits herein written serve to bring to effect and to grant things which are contrary unto the order of Nature; and which are not contained under any other head. They easily give answer, but they can with difficulty be seen.

The Key of Solomon the King, Mathers (1889), Figure 45. Public domain.

What is written on it

A band across the circle whose letters form the names of Böel and other spirits.

How it is made

  • Engrave it in mixed metal on a Wednesday, in an hour of Mercury. Made in the planet's metal, it needs no particular colour.
  • Or draw it on virgin paper or parchment, exorcised first, in mixed colours, the colour of Mercury.
  • The material must be new and never used for anything else. Metal is first purified by fire.
  • The size is up to you, as long as it is made by the rules. Burn the incense while you work, and be pure in body and mind.
