The Key of Solomon the King, Mathers (1889), Figure 29. Public domain.
What is written on it
A scorpion, with the word HVL written around it.
The versicle
“Thou shalt go upon the lion and adder, the young lion and the dragon shalt thou tread under thy feet.”
Psalm 91:13
How it is made
- Engrave it in iron on a Tuesday, in an hour of Mars. Made in the planet's metal, it needs no particular colour.
- Or draw it on virgin paper or parchment, exorcised first, in red, the colour of Mars.
- The material must be new and never used for anything else. Metal is first purified by fire.
- The size is up to you, as long as it is made by the rules. Burn the incense while you work, and be pure in body and mind.
